The big five in elderly

The prototypical personality of the elderly (PPE) and the observed personality of the elderly (OPE) ratings were drawn from assessments across four age groups (N = 822). Personality was measured using The Big Five Questionnaire (Caprara et al., 1997). The negative/positive bias toward elderly was determined by scores on the modified Facts on Aging Quiz (Palmore, 1988). The trait ratings were dependent on the targets' gender, and the observers' bias. Controlling for the bias, the PPE profile differed from the OPE profiles mainly in lower agreeableness, emotional stability, and openness scores.
