1. The applied polymer-based nano-coated MALDI target proved to be suitable for IC/ISMS of downy and powdery mildews for differentiation and biotyping 2. The low cost of polymer-based target in microscope slide format make it a convenient platform as disposable target for (phyto)pathogen microorganism samples delivering the same MS quality as on a steel-based target 3. Optimization of sample preparation was necessary and could be achieved applying a binary matrix (FA/SA) system with a high content (2.5%) of TFA and the dried droplet deposition 4. Instruments of different vendors deliver very similar peptide/protein pattern (cross-use of data bases from different vendors feasible) 5. Direct IC/ISMS from the surface of an infected leaf is feasible with modified target
