This work represents a method in progress. The LC-MS method was very recently developed and it provides good retention and separation of ten different analytes important in the GABA shunt pathway. However, the quantitative portion of this work still remains to be completed and the various analytical figures of merit (e.g., LOD) need to be determined. The time course study should be repeated over a longer germination time and in addition the use of commercial malting procedures should be investigated to see if the changes observed in this study are also observed under the conditions of a commercial process.
