The delivery of Sunitinib was studied by MALDI imaging method using TOF/TOF MS and 15T FT-ICR MS. Five organ tissues (brain, heart, spleen, liver, kidney) and 2 induced cancer tissues (HT29, U118MG) from Sunitinib-dosed mice were examined to delineate the accumulation of the drug and the interaction with tyrosin kinase receptors such as VEGFR and PDGFR. According to the results, it seems that: (1) Sunitinib accumulates or abides mainly in kidney and liver. (2) Sunitinib hardly penetrates blood brain barrier. (3) Sunitinib is delivered specifically to tumor tissue. (4) U118MG cells take more Sunitinib than HT29 cells do. High resolution and accuracy in mass measurement provided by 15T FT-ICR MS give strong possibilities to discover hidden components and to identify their molecular formulae by their isotopic fine structures.
