In the last decade, numerous works on the identification and quantification of Se compounds in natural products were published. Most of these studies were based on a synergie approach, the parallel use of molecular and elemental mass spectrometry, and focused on selenoproteins, selenoamino acids (SeMet, SeCys) and low molecular weight selnometabolites (e.g., Seadenosyl-Se-Met, Se-MetSeCys).
