Profiling the Chemical Differences of Green Tea leaves and Commercial Green Tea Dietary Supplements by LC/MS Fingerprint and Principle Component Analysis

The chemical composition differences among GTDS products and between the GTDS and GT leaves are just too big to be ignored. Although there are some good GTDS products, the problem is that there is no way for consumer to know just from reading labels. The non-targeted LC/MS approach also found constituents from other botanical extracts in some GTDS even when they were not labeled. Based on our results, GTDS in general cannot be considered as a good alternative for a brew of tea leaves. Our results demonstrate the urgency of quality control for GTDS products.
