The influence of grain orientation on magnetic aging behavior of a non-oriented silicon steelsheet was investigated. It was observed that the relative core loss increment went up withincreasing {111} texture, as well as with more second-phase particles which precipitateddispersively during the aging treatment (200°C for 24h) and created a pinning force againstdomain wall movement during magnetization. It was deduced that the magnetic driving forcedepends on grain orientation, that in which grains with <100> parallel to the magnetic field, is themost favorable texture component for reducing the core loss increment after aging. Themagnetostrictive effect of the non-oriented silicon steel sheet may promote precipitation ofsecond-phase particles. However, the sheet texture was not strong enough to induce notablediffences in magnetostriction among the observed samples.
