Introduction Since late 1990's, cranial vault expansion with gradual distraction to treat craniosynostosis has been successfully reported in Japan and limited countries. We present herewith the combined experiences from 7 centers on a certain number of patients underwent distraction method. From the series of the cases, we wish to mention about our consensus for its advantages. Objectives A total of 231 cases of cranial expansion by distraction were performed in the 7 institutes in Japan during the past 10 years. These centers offered the data, did 14 to 60 cases of the procedure followed at least 3 years on an average.
