Advanced Radar technology in military potentially using Active phased array Radar built using thousands of Transmit / Receive Modules (T/R Modules), smart Sub Array Controllers to achieve multifunction & multitask capabilities. Beam steering is one of crucial task of the radar and in order to steer beam, shape the beam and obtain optimal beam parameters, the phase of each T/R element must be assigned with a specific value calculated on the fly. This paper centers on distributed beam steering algorithm implemented using FPGA and its realization. Beam steering designed is based on distributed high speed computation of phase with a precision of 5.625 deg. The concurrent processing capabilities of FPGA are optimized & implemented for faster distributions of beam data to thousands of transmit receive modules present in the antenna array.
