摘要

Hypoxic tumor cells represent a major obstacle in cancer treatment because of their increased resistance towards common chemo- and radiation therapy. The aim of this project was to establish a "gene-directed enzyme-activated prodrug therapy" system. This sytem enables upregulation of the rat P450 isoform 2B1 (CYP2B1) within hypoxic mammary tumor cells which can then be further targeted by chemotherapeutic drugs that require activation by this enzyme.
