SAFETY AND EFFICACY OF PCV2 INACTIVATED VACCINE UNDER LABORATORYCONDITIONS

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is the causative agent of porcine circovirus infection resulting in Postweaning Multisystemic Wasting Syndrome (PMWS) that have resulted in severe economic losses for the pig raising industry. In Japan, PMWS diagnosisresulting from PCV2 infection has been reported and since 2005, huge economic losses resulting from high mortality rates (20% to 40%) and decreased body weights at slaughter have plagued the pig raising industry. Here, we report on the safety and efficacy of PCV2 inactivated vaccine developed by Intervet International under laboratory conditions.
