摘要

Welfare conditions during the transport of animals have a significant influence on the stress load level of animals before slaughter and have an impact on veterinary decision-making about meat and organ edibility, as well as on the quality of slaughtered animal meat. The welfare level during the transport of animals is indicated by the number of animals that die during transport, and that die at slaughter shortly after having been transported. The issue of slaughter animal mortality in connection with transport is particularly important in pigs, as they are more sensitive to stress than, for example, cattle (1).
