Marsh Risk Consulting routinely assists complex clients with various worker exposures throughout the United States. With decentralized operation models, it is very often difficult to begin ergonomics and safety initiatives and sustain them with limited resources and management control at the corporate level. This presentation will frame some best practices that Marsh has administered for clients to gain control of the ergonomics and safety prevention efforts to reduce workers' compensation costs. Key items that will be discussed are: Prioritizing site locations, presenting data, establishing ergonomics and safety committees train the trainer initiatives, intranet resources, design guidelines, purchasing guidelines, managing ergonomics vendors, using a call intake system, and sustaining the process over time.
