This paper briefly describes a unique approach to teaching the required "Introduction to Business" course and that is our partnering with a large corporation. The corporation provides senior executives as guest speakers; e.g. when the students are studying marketing, the V.P. of Marketing comes on campus. As a primary course requirement, the students must develop and present a business plan of a start-up company to provide a product or service to the partnering corporation. The course objectives are: to introduce the basics concepts of business and teams; oral presentations and business writing. When creating the course an underlying goal was to "get the students excited about business" and to increase the college's retention rate of freshman students.
