These peptides share the conserved X~1X~2RF-amide (where X~1 = R or F and X~2 = L) sequence at their C-terminal ends. Among them two peptides, Led-NPF-1 (ARGPQLRLRFamide) and Led-NPF-2 (APSLRLRF-amide) were isolated from the brain of Lepitonotarsa decemlineata as well as Mas-MT-I, II and III (pEDWHSFLRF-amide, GNSFLRF-amide, DPSFLRF-amide) which originated from the brain of Manduca sexta .
