摘要

New policy instruments aiming at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the production of electric power from renewable sources are likely to increase the use of biofuel combined heat and power in district heating systems. The aim of this study is to analyse the effects on cost and carbon dioxide emissions of an introduction of combined heat and power in a district cooling system based on heat pumps. Further, the possibilities for the cooling system to comply with the policy instruments and changes in the district heating system by changing the operation and making new investments are assessed. The results show that the cost and emissions of cooling increase when the combined heat and power plant is introduced. Results also show that the policy instruments and introduction of biofuel combined heat and power are not sufficient to justify new investments in the cooling system.
