Development of Artificial Insemination System for Frozen Ovum

Since such elastic material as mouse egg becomes deformed largely when it is processed physically, high skill level is required for processing flexible material. In this report we propose a new processing method that enables to process elastic material without deformation by freezing it and making it solid. We apply this method to cell manipulation system. In the process, a micro-meter size hall is mechanically drilled on frozen ovum and a micro glass bead of the almost same size as mouse sperm is injected into it. The diameters of the mouse egg, the hole and the micro glass bead are approximately WOjjm, 30jjm and 20jjm respectively. The result that we have obtained through the experiment suggests that the new artificial insemination system for frozen ovum can come to realization.
