摘要

Anion recognition chemistry first originated in the late 1960's but it is only in the last twenty years that significant work has been carried out to study the binding of anions.[1] Anions are common in biological systems, medicines, catalysis and have environmental applications and the design of anion receptors is not an easy task. Anions are larger than cations and are sensitive to the pH of the environment. Anionic complexes have a wide range of geometries and as a result, a high level of design is required to make receptors that recognise anionic species.
