Long known as laboratory curiosities, there has been a remarkable resurgence of interest in hypervalent iodine reagents in recent years.1 Most commonly used as oxidising agents, these versatile reagents have been shown to work in many fundamental reactions with good yields, remarkable selectivity and under mild reaction conditions.
