Development of a rapid LC-MS method to analyze polar metabolites in complex biological samples; a prelude to kinetic flux profiling

The LC-MS method described here is a rapid and effective approach for the analysis of a broad range of important and traditionally difficult to measure polar metabolites. The method was partially validated by the observed decrease in lactate following chemical inhibition of lactate dehydrogenase. Preliminary experiments indicate that the method is suitable for kinetic flux profiling.
