Probing Nanoaggregation of Asphaltene Model Compound using ESI-MS

1. The dominant aggregation number (n) of c5Pe in solution is from 2 to 8, with a small fraction of larger nanoaggregates (8＜n＜31) 2. The nanoaggregation of C5Pe is a step-wise process for small nanoaggregates, while the large aggregates are formed by association between smaller ones. 3. NAs can reduce the C5Pe aggregation level by interacting with C5Pe. The reducing effect is related to NA's structure. 4. Nanoaggregation of asphaltene model compounds is structure-dependent.
