Simultaneous acquisitions of FFA were performed with a GC/MS instrument. LOD in the SIM mode was in the low-femtomole range (< 30 femtomole). Using this methodology, we found significant changes in the FA profile in plasma between the intervention groups of our clinical cohort and further studies on other biological samples are under way in the laboratory. This method allows for highly sensitive detection of unsaturated, saturated and positional isomers of FAs and its application in clinical samples.
