Rapid LC-MS/MS Analysis of Opiates and Benzodiazepines in Urine Using a Partially Porous C-18 Stationary Phase

A method for the quantification of 16 opiates and benzodiazepenes in human urine was developed and validatated. The chromatography run time is approximately 1.5 minutes, with a total of 3 minutes required per sample analysis. including autopsampler washing and column reequilibration times. The LOQ's for all analytes are below 15 ng/mL, and carryover is below 0.3 ng/mL. Future work will focus on faster run times and the use of different stationary phase/mobile phase combinations. Multiplexing LC systems will also be evaluated.
