The surface and structural properties of Ag/ZnO thin films are investigated, which are deposited on flexible stainless steel substrates by RF magnetron sputtering. Hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) n-i-p solar cells are fabricated on these Ag/ZnO Lambertian back reflectors. A clear correlation is found between the surface morphology, crystallographic texture of back reflectors and the performances of solar cells, particularly the short-circuit currents and yields. The efficiencies of flexible a-Si:H/μc-Si:H (hydrogenated microcrystalline silicon) tandem solar cells with optimized Ag/ZnO back reflectors reach 11.26% (AM1.5, 0.28 cm~2) and 6.15% (AM0, 22.12 cm~2).
