摘要

Breastfeeding is a multifactorial behavior. Highly motivated mothers may also have difficulties with breastfeeding during the first postpartum weeks. The breastfeeding aids which are bought and prepared before the delivery by most of the mothers may lead to additional anxiety related to breastfeeding. The purpose of this study was to determine the risk factors associated with suboptimal breastfeeding behavior (SBFB) in high and middle-low income populations. SBFB incidence was higher than the other studies. There was no difference between two populations with respect to SBFB. In SBFB group of middle-low income population nipple problems were more often. Low pre-pregnant BMI was associated with SBFB in both of the populations. There was no association between the other reported risk factors and SBFB.
