But nowadays the drum elevator is an important alternative with the point of view to urban situation, light weight and energy efficiency coupled with architectural future targets in the field of digitalisation. The big advantage of drum elevators basing in use of shaft space. Combined with small diameter ratios drum to rope D/d with all safety relevant items following the rules of the standards and the lift directive an innovative elevator is available for a lot of applications. The paper presents the new possibilities with a statistically verified D/d=20 and a minimal safety factors in single layer drum elevator application followed by a total new and patented spooling strategy. We'll report about the intensive research and the development of the new products for the lift industry in context to the needs of the new urban mobility.
