We evaluated transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) effects on bilaterally olfactory bulbectomy (OBX)-induced behavioural changes and oxidative stress, Male Wistar rats were divided into four groups as follows: i) Sham operated; ii) OBX; iii) TMS; and iv) OBX+TMS OBX was performed by a cranial window, the posterior edge of which was placed 5 mm anterior from the bregma, was created in the frontal bone. The olfactory bulbs were cut and removed, having taken care of to cause the smaller possible damage to the frontal cortex. A period of 2 weeks allowed for the recovery from surgical procedure and the development of the OBX syndrome. Therefore, TMS was applied to 60 Hz and 0.7 mTesla daily for 15 days, beginning after 2 weeks of the recovery. OBX induced oxidative stress and hyperactivity. These changes were reverted by application of TMS.
