Causing an unwanted color, precursoring carcinogenic compounds, humic acids (HA) have been a good candidate to represent refractory organics with their strong potential for complexation and resistance to degradation. As an emerging treatment alternative of the next era, the mechanism of binding of humic acids to Ti0-2 surface has to be addressed in order to improve the understanding of photocatalytic degradation. In this research adsorption of different size fractions of coal derived humic acid was scrutinized to provide further insights on the photocatalytic degradation of refractory organic matters in the environment.
