The Sulfur Speciation of Diesel Emissions from a Non-road Generator

This study investigated the sulfur speciation from non-road diesel emissions under various load conditions. Diesels fuels with various sulfur contents were used to study the impact of sulfur on gaseous and solid diesel emissions. EPA Method 8 was applied for measurement of sulfur dioxide and sulfuric acid in diesel emissions. Total sulfur and sulfate in diesel particulate matter were measured by XRF analysis and ion chromatography respectively. The sulfur balance was estimated under various loads and fuel sulfur contents, and the correlation between diesel sulfur content and distribution of sulfur species in diesel emissions was established.
