Sepsis and septic shock requires emergent and aggressive therapy because of its high morbidity, mortality and complications (1). Although NAC is a thiol compound, it has potent antioxidative and anti-inflammatory properties (2). At the same time, it is a well-known GSH precursor and cleans free oxygen radicals, hydroxilated radicals and hypochloride acid with is direct effect as a major reductant (3). NAC activates redox sensitive change factors quickly. It also activates the genes which contain inflammatory, immune response and acute phase responses (4,5).
