One problem in hepatocyte transplantation is the possible migration of the cells. The aim of this work is the use of a routine technique to locate transplanted hepatocytes. Female NZW rabbits were used throughout the study. They were transplanted into spleen with hepatocytes labelled with 111-In-oxine, and two days later they were studied in a gammacamera and afterwards the activity was counted in several organs. The gammagraphic study and the actual counting showed an intense activity into the splenic-hepatic area. From the results, it can be concluded that 111-In-oxine is an adequate label for hepatocytes and likely for other cells types, in order to confirm the location of cells recently transplanted.
