Recent studies have shown that consumer interest in cabin air filtration is growing. Concerns over health and quality of life are driving the interest of having cleaner air inside the automotive cabins. At the same time, advances in cabin air media are improving the performance of cabin filters. Improved media performance is achieved through the use of composite materials and advancements in fine fiber forming technology which gives higher filtration efficiencies, longer lifetimes, and better overall performance during the life of the filter. In addition, the use of novel higher quality activated carbons is important to meet specific needs such as the elimination of sulphur dioxide. This presentation will focus on a new generation of cabin air media that has been developed by Ahlstrom to meet the need for improved performance.
