THE GAMETIC COVARIANCE MATRIX BETWEEN RELATIVES FOR A CHROMOSOMAL SEGMENT

Most QTL mapping methods use IBD at a specified location. However, point IBDs may not provide precise results for situations where closely linked QTLs with small and equal additive effects are to be mapped. This paper proposes a method for computing agametic covariance matrix for a chromosomal segment flanked by two markers. The method is based on computing gametic IBD matrices for QTLs at equidistant points along the segment in order to compute the average of gametic IBD matrices of QTLs located anywhere within the segment by Romberg integration. Using simulated data, the efficiency of the presented method is compared with a previously developed method.
