Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering (EHPS) systems are used as an alternative to Hydraulic Power Steering (HPS) systems in vehicles. The application of sound quality tools, for example loudness and sharpness metrics, and experimental measurements, such as acceleration and sound pressure, in the EHPS design process is investigated in this paper. Acceleration and sound pressure are measured with the EHPS installed in the test stand and the vehicle. These measurements are carried out simultaneously with binaural recordings, where the listener stands beside the EHPS test stand and sits inside the vehicle. Also, this investigation of the EHPS vibro-acoustic performance is carried out by studying the correlation between sound quality metrics of measurements and a jury evaluation of the noise emitted from the EHPS (results of subjective evaluation).
