Unilateral coronal craniosynostosis is the premature closure of a single coronal suture and is the second most common type of craniosynostosis accounting for 20-29% of all cases of craniosynostosis. This early fusion results in anterior (trapezoidal) plagiocephaly with characteristic facial, orbital, and osseous dysmor-phologies. Early treatments consisted primarily of a simple strip craniectomy. This technique alleviated developmental problems but did not provide satisfactory esthetic outcomes. In order to address not only the stenosed coronal suture but also achieve symmetry, proportionally and balance of the frontoforehead region and the orbits, open cranial vault remodeling with frontal orbital advancement is now considered to be the gold standard. This technique was first described by Hoffman and Mohr in 1976.
