Ionizer-assisted air filters and electrostatic-field-assisted air filters are more and more popular for particle removal due to high efficiencies and low pressure drops. However, they usually generate ozone. The motivation of this study is to identify the ozone-initiated gaseous products on used filter surfaces during the Beijing haze period. Butyraldehyde, formaldehyde, C_5-C_(10) aldehydes and C_(10)-C_(15) alkanes were main ozone-initiated products of used filter materials in this study. However, the emission rates of aldehydes were quite low when the concentration of ozone was 50 ppbv. It seems that the ozone-initiated oxidation on the used filters is not a serious problem during the winter haze period in Beijing.
