摘要

This work aims to overview the circulation-flow patterns of the Aegean Sea basin based on SST imageries (AVHRR) and buoy data. The basic parameter under examination is sea surface temperature. SST imageries providing optical presentation of the upper circulation of the basin were produced. Multiple sea surface circulation patterns are revealed through the imageries and their seasonal variability is elucidated by using additionally in-situ measured time-series. Furthermore, comparisons of related in-situ oceanographic parameters such as current speed and direction with associated wind, temperature variations in the water column etc, are also performed. Finally, the arithmetic integrity of the AVHRR data was comparatively evaluated using primary statistics in respect to in-situ data and a calibration equation for AVHRR data referring to the Aegean Sea was produced by using inverse linear regression methods.
