Isolated rat ventricular myocytes were used to examine the effects of thiopental on various currents relating to the repolarization phase of action potential. The clinically relevant concentrations of thiopental modestly, but significantly, reduced the transient outward K~+ current and inwardly rectifying K~+ current. Thiopental moderately reduced the Ca~(2+) current (I_(Ca,L).
