For the predictions of acoustic target strength (TS) in high frequency ranges, the physical optics (PO) techniques are generally used, and to predict the TS for large and submerged targets with the effects of the interior structures, some new methods are suggested. To solve the external scattering problems, the exterior surfaces of the target body are divided into a number of flat polyhedrons and the closed form of physical optics solution is used on each element to efficiently calculate the scattering problems. In order to cover the interior structure effects, the surface impedances considering the effects of the interior structures such as the ribs and partitions are calculated, and then TS could be predicted with the calculated surface impedances.
