Evaluation of sound absorption properties of building products for the purposes of approval and certification

The paper contains discussion of problems of evaluation of sound absorption properties in the process of approval and conformity assessment of building products. The results of sound absorption test measurements performed in accordance with the EN 20354 at the ITB Building Research Institute (Poland) are compared with results obtained for the same type of product in another European laboratory (e.g. SP Sweden, SRL Great Britain, CSTB France). The principles of determining the required values of sound absorption parameters for building materials and the principles of approving inspection test results assumed at the ITB are presented.
