In this paper, the continuous new variable valve timing mechanism of simple structure by the combination of the three-dimensional cam and the moving locker arm was manufactured for test, and this was applied to four cylinder gasoline engine, and its engine performance was investigated. The engine performance test and an indicated pressure analysis were carried out, and it was proved that a torque band was secured in wide engine speed range, and high thermal efficiency wad obtained. And, high thermal efficiency equal to diesel engine was acquired in the partial load. Furthermore, it is proved that the combustion became stable by the combustion analysis in cylinder.
