Force parameters of the extrusion process are closely related to the nature of plastic flow of the extruded metal. Determination of the character of metal flow in extrusion process is a basic element in design and control of technological process. An essential element in the description of the flow of extruded metal is the determination of plastic and dead zones by their volume. The professional literature provides but little information about the problems of plastic and dead zones existing in metal extrusion. A majority of studies about metal flow during extrusion have a theoretical character and their authors assume defined model of the flow [1/6]. Only a few studies have both an analytical and experimental characters and their autors have made an attempt to combine analytical solutions with their own experimental works [7/]. Considering the present state of research of nature of the metal flow during extrusion of non-circular sections are of great interest and need from applicarion point of view. Limited attemps have been found to describe the relationship between the force chracteristics of extrusion and the nature of metal flow (geometrical parameters of plastic and dead metal zones). This work contains the results of experimental method of investigation of character metal plastic flow during extrusion of non-circular profiles.
