Comparative Analysis of Wave Regimes Obtained with TRANSFER and MAR3G Methodologies

To overcome the scarcity or the absence of observed wave data in the vicinity of a site where coastal protection works or maritime structures have to be built, two different methodologies, TRANSFER and MAR3G, are presented, applied and compared in this paper. These methodologies are applied in the definition of the wave regime at Porto Santo beach, in the Porto Santo Island (Madeira Archipelago). The results are compared in terms of the histograms of wave heights, wave periods and wave directions associated with the two methodologies. Main advantages and disadvantages of both methodologies are discussed.
