Reconstruction of the knee joint using the total joint regeneration system

摘要

A new therapeutic system called the 'total joint regeneration system' is proposed as a treatment for osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. Our approach is divided into two categories of development. One is the development of devices which provide a proper mechanical environment for cartiiage regeneration. This would be expected to regenerate a wide cartilage defect in a non-invasive environment with proper mechanical stimulation. The second category is the development of a new scaffold or cell-delivery material which promotes earlier load-bearing by regenerated tissue. This paper introduces the fundamental concepts of the Total Joint Regeneration.
