This paper presents a brief review of the state-of-the-art in simulation of manufacturing processes, recent advances and future trends. The processes discussed include forging, sheet metal forming and hydroforming. For each process, a few examples are given to illustrate the present practical and ongoing developments in improving the simulation efficiency. Methods developed at the ERC/NSM to reduce the number of simulations for the prediction of optimum process parameters in stamping and hydroforming are explained.
