Fixed valve tray has the advantages of low tray pressure drop, high efficiency, anti-fouling, simple structure, low manufacture cost and long runtime which begins to be used in chemical process industries. This paper presents a new fixed valve tray which has some improvements on the deflector. The improvements include side edges folding downward from the two fringes of the central deflector portioa The hydrodynamics of new fixed valve tray were studied in a 500mm inner diameter column with air-water system. The results show that die pressure drop of new fixed valve tray is little more than sieve tray and greatly less than F1 valve tray, the F_0 factor of entrainnwnt flooding point is larger than sieve tray and F1 valve tray and the F_0 factor of weeping point is less than sieve tray and larger than F1 valve tray.
