摘要

The integration of multi-functional and reconfigurable aspects into adaptive optics systems is novel for the Micro-electro-mechanical Deformable Mirror (MEM-DM) based applications being presented [1]. It reduces the complexity, cost, size, and maintenance of the system, while increasing real-time flexibility. Multi-functional implies the inherent non-physical reordering of system aspects to produce desired outputs within a self contained autonomous operating system. Traditional solutions to adaptive optic systems required changing equipment (LCD's for Beam Shaping, Beam Splitters for Beam Splitting, Gimbaled mechanical devices for beam steering, etc.), which is not required with this innovative system design [2,3]. Re-configurable implies the ability to continuously change the systematic operation of an autonomous system through intervention of logic that is designed proactively within the system that is re-programmable in the field by remote configuration downloads via wireless and/or direct conductive media. The introduction of the 3-D Advanced Optical Phased Array (AOPA) and Phase Retrieval Techniques provides the engine that enables these advancements once applied to the MEM-DM array.
