摘要

Computer environments for distance learning incorporate very few learning activities based on learning by doing such as practical work or projects involving either real or virtual objects. The particularity of these activities is their high degree of interactivity, thus calling for synchronous pedagogical monitoring by the tutor in order to avoid the learners finding themselves in a situation of failure. From these findings, this paper puts forward a model for monitoring distance learning activities which describes the functionalities that need to be integrated into a computer environment for synchronous pedagogical monitoring to support the tutor's activity. Then we present the ESSAIM environment which was designed on the bases of this monitoring model. ESS AIM provides the tutor with the tools necessary to support his/her interventions with the learners and helps the latter to carry out specific tasks.
