Complexity of the low molecular weight glutenin Glu-AS locus.

Null lines expressing only Glu-A3a, Glu-A3b, Glu-A3c or Glu-A3d low molecular weight glutenin alleles were characterized by one and two dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis techniques to evaluate the number and position of proteins expressedfrom each allele. Complete and partial sequences, as well as ESTs were collected to characterise genes located in the Glu-A3 locus. Primers specific for i-type LMW glutenin genes were developed, and markers specific for individual Glu-A3 alleles identified.
