Mycological examination of grain samples of registered winter wheat cultivars collected in three years (2000-2002) from different regions of Czech Republic showed high diversity of Fusarium species. Fusarium graminearum was the prevailing toxicogenicspecies. Target mycotoxins (ZON, DON, NIV, T-2 tetraol, FUS-X, 15-ADON, 3-ADON, DAS, HT-2 toxin and T-2 toxin) were quantified using either capillary gas chromatography or EL1SA method. Secondary metabolites deoxynivalenol (DON), 3-acetyl-deoxynivalenol(3-ADON) and nival enol (NIV) were quantified in the highest concentrations. In many samples from 2001 also HT-2 toxin (60% of samples) and T-2 toxin (40% of samples) were detected, possibly due to the presence of different Fusarium spp. (F. tricinctum,F. poae or F. oxysporum). Zearalenone (ZON) content was low and not significantly correlated with content of DON. The hygienic limit for DON (2 ppm) was in the examined years exceeded only sporadically. There were differences between cultivars in averagecontent of DON, which ranged in cultivars from 0.10 to 0.61 ppm.
